Introducing Our Nutritious Baby Cookies: A Year in the Making!

They’re finally out in the world! Our baby cookies! After a year of recipe testing and laboratory tests, they’re finally born! We’re so proud!

The Importance of Nutritious Foods for Baby’s Development

Why did we decide to create these cookies? Because everything we eat should be nutritious, not empty. If this rule makes sense at any time in life, it is during childhood that it should be followed to the letter. Babies’ immune systems only begin to develop autonomously from 2 or 3 months onwards. Everything the baby eats makes a difference in their development, and it is also through contact with antibodies that the system develops most strongly. Some experts suggest that the immune system only fully develops between the ages of 12 and 14.

Breast Milk and Nourishing Foods: Essential for Healthy Development

For it to develop well, there is nothing better than breast milk. And when the baby starts eating, everything we give him to eat will contribute to his development and health, or not. This is true for all ages, for his entire life. Therefore, he should not be given anything that will not nourish him, and this means refined flour and sugars, chemicals, colorings, preservatives, dairy products, or yeasts.

Choosing Natural Foods Over Packaged Baby Products

My son’s pediatrician warned me before his 6-month checkup that he was about to start eating and recommended that I use supermarket milk-based baby food and Maria biscuits. It didn’t make any sense to me to give him powdered, packaged, refined food, full of strange ingredients that would last for years on the shelf. With all those ingredients that I didn’t want him to eat and that I don’t eat either. I had to look for them myself. I was convinced that there had to be another solution, one that was natural. My grandmother, my great-grandmother, and my great-great-grandmother raised many healthy children without going to the supermarket; it was possible, we just had to go back to basics.

Commitment to Healthy Eating: The Benefits of Natural Foods for Children

And so I did. To this day, whenever I am the one feeding him. The result is a strong boy, who never gets sick, strong, big, calm, and in good spirits. There is no excuse for not giving your children the best. Lack of time is no excuse: there is nothing more important than their health.

Creating Nutritious Snacks: Our Super Oatmeal Cookies Recipe

But we needed a snack. There weren’t any available either, so I decided to create one! We got down to work and made these super nutritious cookies. For the oatmeal cookies, we chose gluten-free whole oats because they are anti-inflammatory, a source of energy, and rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals. We added brown rice, sweetened it with rice jelly (a little bit), and used coconut oil as the fat, that wonderful fat.

Nutritious Ingredients: Fennel, Flours, and Olive Oil in Our Cookies

We had to use fennel in the others because we love fennel! It strengthens the immune system, prevents colic, and soothes, and benefits the digestive system. We use brown rice flour, arrowroot flour which is wonderful for digestion, and chickpea flour which is very rich in proteins and flaxseed, to ensure essential fatty acids. As fat, we use virgin olive oil from Trás-os-Montes.

From Concept to Creation: The Journey Behind Our Baby Cookies

It seems easy but the truth is that through this process of choosing ingredients, texture tests, taste tests with my baby and other baby friends, and laboratory tests, we arrived at this final result which, honestly, is a source of pride.
